Suzanne Mortensen on Home Care

We started the year by singing Happy Birthday to Tony (Stix) for his 95th.  Thanks to Joann for providing a birthday cake. And, she won the raffle again!

There were a few announcements of interest to all members:
  • Next week we will have as our guests the Lincoln Chamber Leadership Class
  • February 20 is the Lincoln Community Blood Drive - invite a friend who could becomre a Rotarian
  • March 28 is the Annual District Training Seminar.  Put this on your calendar. We will do a group signup in February.
  • April 24-26 is the District Conference in Rohnert Park - another fun and informative event.
The first official Sunset meeting is next Thursday at 5:30 at Buonarrati's. Invite potential members who can't attend the lunch meeting.

Art requested member input on two items related to future planning:
  • January 22nd is the Lunch Meeting Club Assembly. Input is requested from all members on agenda items for discussion.   This is your opportunity to contribute your ideas on the future direction of the club.  Please provide your ideas to Geri Rainbolt (tgrain@sbcglobal.net) by January 18th.  The compiled agenda will be provided back to you by January 20th.
  • District Grant applications are due by end of April.  Please provide your ideas on projects where we could use $2-3,000 for the next Rotary Year. Email your ideas with as much detail as possible to Sharron Snyder (sms@goldrushchevy.com) by February 15th. The applications are due by the end of April.

Art showed a few interesting pictures of our RYE student Sarah Sheridan in Brazil and our events in December at the Lighthouse and the Lincoln Meadows Care Center plus a video of the Rose Bowl Parade.

Our speaker was Suzanne Mortensen on Quality Home Care. Suzanne recently moved to Lincoln (actually up near Camp Far West Lake - off the electricity grid) and is an in-home care specialist and home technology provider   She gave pointers on how aging people can continue to live at home. (She is a member of the Lincoln Leadership class so will be at our meeting next week.)

We had a terrific Christmas Party in January at the home of Dan and Sharon Johnson.  Our thanks to them for their hospitality.
