Placer County Roads Status

The meeting started with the 4-Way Test led by Melanie Bergavin, but she could not muster her usual cheerleader performance. We had two Rotarian guests Howard Stagg from Arden Arcade and Bill Halden from the South Placer Club.  Jerry and Karen Johnson introduced two of their Paul Harris Fellow grandchildren.

Kimberly has organized a Club Service event to deliver Easter "baskets" to Villa del Ray and Lincoln Meadows senior care facilities on Saturday April 4th. Please put this on your calendars. She also presented a range of community service projects that we could participate in; see the meeting slides. Also voice your opinion to Kimberly on those you think we should pursue.

Dan presented a proposal that we have the April 16th meeting at the GoatHouse Brewery.  Kim will arrange for dinner packages that will be supplied by Simple Pleasures, with a portion going to support Sober Grad Night. If you missed the meeting, Karen requested volunteers for the Lincoln Wine Fest location monitors.  Make sure and put May 2nd on your calendars.  Tickets available soon.

Claire reported that we did very well at the Taste of Italy Fundraiser.  Paul gave a brief report on the trip by Joann and Paul to the Ajijic/Chapala Mexico clubs, where we presented our $1,000 contribution to their local projects.

Will Bill is back!  He handled the Happy Bucks. Joann won the raffle, but no Ace of Spades.

Our speaker was Celia Adams from the Placer County Transportation Agency.  She described the current plans to improve highway 65 out to Lincoln including widening with new lanes and feeder lanes. She reported that the Lincoln Bypass was one of the largest recent projects in our state. More projects are under consideration with a major new freeway to the West all the way to highways 70/99.   Very interesting.
