Wow - What a Week (or so)

The August Blood and Platelet Drive on August 21 was a very busy event.  More than 50 people showed up with 44 donors.  Dan Johnson, assisted by other Rotarians, did a great job publicizing and conducting the drive. Kimberly is shown getting her new tee-shirt after giving platelets.

At our lunch meeting on the 27th, District Governor Glenn Fong, his wife Alise and daughter Katy were our guests. Glenn is an outstanding DG, having been previously an Assistant DG and President of Roseville Rotary. Glenn awarded "Gift to the World" awards to Dan Johnson and Kimberly Fricke for all that they do for our club and for our community. Congratulations. Pete Walker, assisted by Glen, awarded Paul Harris awards to Kris Wyatt (PH+3), Frank Neves (PH+4) and Joann Hilton (PH+5). These awards are given to each recipient based on contributions to the Rotary Foundation (and award of recognition points for service above self for our club).

On Friday the 28th, many members attended a "firepit" social at Clark, Janet and Heather Osterhout's home. Clark fired up the Rec-Tech and provided exellent pulled pork on Hawaiian rolls; other Rotarians and spouses/guests brought their favorite finger food for an awesome feast.

On Saturday the 29th, we went to the Salt Mine to help with sorting and distribution of food for needy families in the Lincoln area.  This is an activity that the club stared in the Spring and we will plan to keep doing it every few months.  Thanks to Kimberly Fricke for organizing this event
