Kerry shared that the 100th project is well on its way. There will be a band that has agreed to play 2 songs from each era. 20's, 30's, 40's etc. The Catta Vedera Country Club is the location for the celebration. The ticket cost will be $100, and the Theme is the 20's and dress for the 20's is encouraged. The Turkey Drive date, November 21st, was announced. Claire reported that there is no 5th week Social for October 31 due to the conflicts with Halloween festivities.  Keela has scheduled a Fundraising Committee meeting. October 10th, at Soli's, 5:00 PM. Tour de Lincoln: Bryan reminded members that the raffle for the bike is available online and volunteers are still needed. Clark reminded people that the District Foundation dinner is the same day as the Tour but that one or two members have been able to sign up to attend the dinner to represent the club. He also encouraged members to consider attending the RI Convention June 21-25 in Calgary, because it's relatively close and a beautiful location. Karen reported that there is a great need for #1 size diapers, Truman also has the annual drive for coats & jackets and other winter clothing beginning. Please bring any of these items to the next meeting.
Guest Speaker
Dick was introduced by Julie Westering. It was interesting to hear his many accomplishments over the years. He was awarded the RI Cliff Dochterman Award and the Rotary Scouts Award to name a very small part of his recognitions. Dick comes from a family that immigrated to America in 1634, back in the Pilgrims' time period, with English history even earlier than that. He gave a lot of local history information including the fact that the covered Bridgeport bridge is the largest remaining covered bridge in the world. It was damaged in floods but restored in 1984-1986 by the state. The family owned and operated the first dairy in San Francisco in 1849 and Dick has barrels from that time period. The milk cost $3.00 at that time and provided a huge income for the family. Dick showed the picture of his current home that includes part that was rolled one quarter mile from the Auburn Ravine area to its current location. Another picture showed how the truck delivered trees to projects in his comments about the nursery. Dick provided a speech loaded with history and interesting information. To catch up on the details there is a ton of information online about the Fowler Family that greatly influenced the town of Lincoln and surrounding area.
The Four-Way Test
           The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
   1. Is it the truth?
   2. Is it fair to all concerned?
   3. Will it build goodwill and
         better friendships?
   4. Will it be beneficial
        to all concerned?

   5. HAVE FUN !!
