Guest Speaker

Greg introduced speakers Arlen Crawley and Matthew Stidham. Arlen is an Intelligence Analyst at the Central California Intelligence Center (CCIC). Arlen has been with CCIC for 5 years and has over 4 years of experience in the field of intelligence analysis. He specializes in open-source intelligence, researching the historical context of extremist groups, and understanding the complex cultures of fringe online communities. Matthew has been with CCIC for 2 years specializing in rural crime and critical infrastructure. He acts as a liaison between the CCIC and private sector entities. Matthew is versed in agriculture, water, electricity, transportation, and communication infrastructure.

Mathew discussed the Fusion Centers that communicate with 80 fusion center across the USA. Fusion Centers serve as a bridge from local information to Federal attention. They are not the CIA. Matthew said that CCIC helps with security when needed, provides training, and stresses the need for reporting suspicious behaviors. See Something, Say Something. CCIC works with the Sacramento Sheriff's Department.  Drone use was discussed as potential security risk. If in doubt, they encourage people to report anything unusual. Their service is free with no cost for reports or any training that they provide. What do they worry about as individuals in this field? Cyber Crime especially relating to children.

   4. Will it be beneficial
        to all concerned?
