The Guest Speaker for May 28th is Sean Scully, Lincoln's City Manager. Lincoln's City Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and programs of the City as directed by the City Council. All City services are under the direction of the City Manager. As the chief executive for the City organization, the City Manager must provide a balance between the desired level of municipal services and the available revenue to provide those services. The City Manager's office also administers the City's personnel functions, public information activities, oversees economic development activities and records management operations. The City Manager also serves as the Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency and the Lincoln Public Financing Authority.
President Kerry opened the meeting with Fun Facts and then welcomed 30 members and 6 guests. Including Guest Speakers Chris Fuseo and Marcos Breton, Chris Delaney from the Rocklin Rotary Club, Penny Pearl (Richard), Elizabeth Jansen PHS +2 recipient (Kris) and Damian Lima (Kerry)The Flag salute was led by Howard Dutra, and the Four Way Test was led by Art Deardorff.
Kris introduced Elizabeth Jansen saying that Elizabeth is a 3rd generation of Lincoln and has been outstanding for the many ways she has served the Lincoln community. In recognition of her service to Lincoln, Elizabeth was selected to receive a Paul Harris Fellowship +3 (she received previous Paul Harris awards while an active member of the club.)
Rocklin Rotarian Chris Delaney thanked the members that have volunteered to help with the Rocklin upcoming BrewFest. and invited members to attend the event.
Kerry covered the very few upcoming events. The Clay Day was viewed as a success. The "Kick Out" will be held at the Beerman Center. She reviewed the RYE students dates outgoing and returning home. Committee reports included the WCS meeting May 28th, 5:15 PM, at Karen Johnson's home. Jan Hutchinson, Speech Coordinator, informed members of some changes in Guest Speakers for 2026-2027: Speakers will be invited the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month and the other weeks will be used for club service and various types of event planning etc.
Guest speakers for 5-21-26 were Chris Fuseo and Marco Breton. Chris Fuseo an award-winning editor with more than 30 years of news and leadership experience, and he is the current executive editor. Marcos Bretón oversees The Sacramento Bee’s Editorial Board. He’s been a California newspaperman for more than 30 years. The Sacramento Bee originated in 1867, still uses a logo designed by Walt Disney himself at some point, and has continued to the present day. Their main focus is to increase subscribers at a time when physical newspapers have been declining. Chris and Marcos are reaching out to communities to promote what the Bee provides in addition to the daily newspaper. Chris said that they are reaching out to communities also to promote reading in general to the current generations that are addicted to their cell phones and social medias to obtain information.
