He spoke about the benefits and responsibilities of being a Rotarian.
Diane then gave Wayne the Rotary membership pin. The club welcomed Wayne with applause and a standing ovation.
Guest Speaker Mike Boon

Mike Boon is the Senior Chaplain/Executive Director at Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. The Chaplaincy provides a response to several law enforcement agencies' requests for assistance during emotionally traumatic situations involving individual, families or groups of people. Mike said that the ministry is “the best kept secret in Placer County.”He gave several examples of the service the volunteer Chaplains provide. They respond to homes where an unexpected death has occurred. They deal with the family which allows the officers to do their investigation. Families have often said to Mike that: they “don't know what to do next.” The Chaplain can help them with finding a funeral home and provides them with referrals for the help available for other needs as well. Mike told a story of a service needed that was to babysit a dog whose owner had just passed away. The dog needed friendly help which Mike provided so that the family could say goodbye to their loved one. Mike stressed that the Chaplains allow the officers to do their investigations while they help with the grieving family. The Chaplains are well trained before going on service calls. The Chaplaincy is a 501c3, and funding is provided by State and Federal grants and 3 Fundraisers as well as private donations. The 35 current Chaplains responded to 313 service calls in 2023 and expect that 2024 will have more calls.

The Four-Way Test
           The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
   1. Is it the truth?
   2. Is it fair to all concerned?
   3. Will it build goodwill and
         better friendships?
