Art Deardorff, installed new (to us) member Lisa Nyguen Cambria sponsored by Darrell Scott. Lisa comes to our club from the Novato Rotary Club. She was presented with the Rotary pin and name badge. Expectations of Rotary were reviewed, and Lisa was welcomed with a standing ovation.
Ted McKay gave a swift review of his childhood, his graduation from Cal Poly, his family and how he ultimately landed in Lincoln. The Red Badge is a series of activities that new members need to fulfill, such as serving as the Club Greeter, serving as Attendance recorder, attending a meeting at a different Rotary Club to name a few requirements, that are intended to help meet members and learn more about Rotary and this club in particular.
Kerry reported that the "Day of 100 Community Services" was a success. She provided a video of many of the locations. Josh gave the ticket sale update, that about 800 tickets had been pre-sold for the WineFest, Kris reported that the RYE students had a wonderful Prom experience thanks in part to the members generous donations, and that our Rotary scholarships will be presented by Kerry this week.
Jan Hutchinson introduced member Joann Hilton. Joann has an outstanding history of service in the club and in District5180. Her topic was the District Youth Protection Policy. In a nutshell: "Rotary International strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary activities. To the best of their ability, Rotary members, their partners, and other volunteers must safeguard the children and young people they come into contact with and protect them from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse." Part of her presentation included the Requirements for Club Certification. The benefits of completing the requirements typically earns points towards the annual club's awards in youth services.
