2016 10_20 Club Meetings

Meetings on October 20th
   Seniors First
       Rotary Foundation
           End Polio Now

What awesome meetings of the Lunch and Sunset groups for Lincoln Rotary. Programs were: Jack Arney at Sunset about Rotary Foundation and Jamee Horning at Lunch about Seniors First and our efforts for seniors in Lincoln.

Jamee was especially appreciative of the efforts of Kimberly Fricke for spearheading the efforts to get more momentum and services for Seniors in Lincoln. The group has met with Lincoln City Manager Matt Brower who is supportive of partnering.  There is a meeting with Lincoln clergy next Monday to collect information on what services are available through local churches.

Jack Arney is the District Governor Elect Nominee (DG for 2018-2019) and is a Lincoln resident but member of the Roseville club where his office is located.  He is a avid supporter of the Rotary Foundation and updated our members. Ana Roa did a great job chairing the Sunset meeting and was presented with her Blue Badge. Congratulations Ana.

Monday October 24th is World Polio Day. At both meetings, we collected about $450 for eradication of Polio including generous matching donations of $100 each from Art and Joann.  When this is turned in to RI, it will be increased with a 7.5 multiplier due to Rotary and Gates Foundation matching programs. Way to go members. At the Sunset meeting, Art (with his End Polio Now Tee and Trump "rug") had pictures taken with all who donated. For those of you not present, donations can be made at the next meeting or online at www.Rotary.Org.

For those not aware, past-President Harvey underwent surgery on Thursday and word is that he is recovering well. We wish you a speedy recovery Harvey.

Tickets for Nite At The Races are available and were passed out at the meetings. Ask you friends and neighbors to come have fun at the November 11th fundraiser.  When you distribute tickets, make sure and note if the meal is beef, chicken or pasta.
