Our speaker for the next meeting is Tony Johnson. Tony is a retired CPA and has been a resident of Sun City Lincoln Hills for 20 years. Originally from St. Lucia he migrated to the USA (legally) in 1978 and has been in CA since then. He was a member of the Rotary Club of St. Lucia, Past President of Redding East Rotary, a charter member of Auburn Daybreak Rotary and a member of the Rotary Club of Lincoln. While he has not been a Rotarian for the last few years he still strives to live by the 4-Way test, and today he will be sharing with us his most recent project to provide housing for needy families in Roatan. (Bio provided by Jerry Johnson.)
President Greg opened the meeting with the thought for the day. The Flag salute was led by Paul and the 4-Way Test was led by Claire. Greg welcomed to the meeting 35 members of the club, and 2 guests: Guest Speaker Stacy Robinson, and Tony Johnson, former member of this club. Greg announced that the incoming President for RI, two weeks before taking office, withdrew for personal reasons. As catastrophic as that sounds, RI always has a Plan B for this rare occurrence. Basically, a Rotarian shadows the incoming President throughout the year of orientation so that someone is prepared to take the position when this happens. The RI President for 2025-2026 will most likely be announced at the RI Conference in Calgary, held June 21-25.
President Greg, presented very special Paul Harris +8 awards to Jan Hutchinson and Dick Fowler. Greg reminded the club of how this is achieved. Both members have met the requirement of Paul Harris recognition with their support of the RI Foundation with multiple donations of one thousand dollars. Donations are cumulative but can be a donation within one year. The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. Congratulations to Jan and Dick.
Joann Hilton was selected to join only 30 previous Rotarians, to be included in the District5180 Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was initiated in 2015 with the selection of 3 members. The Criteria for consideration includes: must have served 20 years or more in Rotary and 10 of these in District 5180. Joann has a long history of service in this club: President 2011-2012, Secretary, Treasurer, International (WSC), and a Board Member for 15 years. She served on the Dart Strategic Planning Committee, and three+ years with the Project Cornerstone, and many other youth Programs. She was the District Interact Chair, and District Grant Chair for 4 years, District Vocational Chair for 1 year and the District Youth Services Chair for 4 years. She was a member of the District Peace Committee for 18 years. She has been a RYLA counselor 4 times at the teenage youth camp. Perhaps this partial mention of her dedication and commitment to Rotary helps us all to understand and appreciate why Joann was selected this year for the District5180 Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Joann.

Kris wants members to know that thank you notes have been arriving from the scholarship recipients. Claire announced that Sino's will probably start alternating catering lunch with the SaladWorks.
