Rotary takes over the Potters!

Last Sunday, we had our first joint Rotary social event at the Lincoln Potters game! President Darrell said, "Eighty-one people signed up with Roseville, Placer Valley Sunrise and Lincoln clubs showing up big time. The Potters entertained all with a big offensive show in 15-7 victory. Joann helped with the first pitch, Colleen sang the national anthem and was our event coordinator. Thanks for everyone's efforts and enthusiasm. Go Rotary!!

Rotary's newest member!

Past President Larry Whitaker inducted our newest member, Jerry Harner, our City Treasurer.  Welcome back to Jerry, we are so glad to have you as a member and thanks to Richard Pearl for sponsoring you.

Rotary voted Best of the Best again!

A super busy day at Lincoln Rotary on Thursday!! We started off with Pres Darrell's announcement that Lincoln Rotary and Past President Caron Russell have won, once again, the honor of Best of Best Service Club in Lincoln. He also reminded us of our Vision Statement: A Strong and Vibrant Club, 2nd to none in Friendship & Service.

Other highlights from the July 25th lunch meeting:

  • Loud cheers welcomed the news that two new applications for membership have been received; one from Barbara de Baptiste and one from Norm Lane. We look forward to your energy as new members.
  • Joann read a letter from one of our RYLA students that showed how profoundly and positively she had been impacted by the 5 day camp.
  • Karen Johnson announced that we will be selling Raffle tickets for two sets of 5 tickets to Disneyland. The cost is $20, value $150.  We will only sell 250 tickets.  Karen is looking for a member(s) to help run the raffle. Please contact Karen at Jerrykarenjohnson@gmail.com if you can help.
Our speaker was our own Clark Osterhout, Membership Chair who treated us to a glimpse at the latest District training for Membership.  Why is it important?  Because Rotarians are failing in North America.  We are losing ground and need to change how we attract and sell Rotary to  prospective members. Emphasis on Participation NOT Attendance.  We need to shake up our methods and go after more diverse, younger members, especially business people.  Lots of great tips and insights to build on.  Nice work, Clark!!
