Guest Speaker, Derek Evans
Battalion Chief Derek Evans has been with Cal Fire for 25 years. The goal of Cal Fire is to not have devasting fires. The Placer County Fire Department and the Nevada Yuba Placer Unit work together with 21 units in Placer County. They protect more than 60,000 people over 475 square miles. Rescue men are trained together with sheriffs, and firemen with extensive training sessions and well-organized teamwork and resources. Early detection is of key importance. The number one cause of fires is when vegetation fires escape controllers. Drones are used along with aircraft. If private citizens fly their drones, it causes Cal Fire to shut aircraft down, as those drones are interfering with Cal Fire’s team efforts. For a burning permit, Google Cal Fire Burn Permits (https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov).
The Four-Way Test
           The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
   1. Is it the truth?
   2. Is it fair to all concerned?
   3. Will it build goodwill and
         better friendships?
   4. Will it be beneficial
        to all concerned?

   5. HAVE FUN !!
