Paul and Joann (and spouses) are going to Ajijic to visit Clubs there and to get an update of past projects. Let them know if you are interested in going Aug. 8-12. Let Rose know if you are attending her Community Service Project meeting on February 16th (7pm). Remember to invite a friend to the Blood Drive on February 20th (1-6pm).
We had a discussion on "Why the Sunset Club?" Key points:
We are one club with two meetings. Members opt for one or the other regarding meeting costs, but are welcome to go to non-opted club by paying the meeting fee, currently $14 for Lunch and $8 for Sunset.
Main reason for starting Sunset meetings was fact that Lincoln people could not attend Lunch meeting - our membership was stagnating. Sunset meeting has inducted three new members as of today, with one more application in.
There will be communication of each meeting's activities via this Bulletin and committee reps for each meeting. Key announcements will be given in each.
It is a scary but if we work on it we can make it work. District Governor Glenn Fong has applauded us for this bold move.
Harriet Garland is coming back to the club, and won the raffle. Good things come to good people!
Our speaker was Jerry Hall, PDG of district 5190 (East of us). He gave us an update of Uganda Nursing School Bwindi project that we have contributed to.

The meeting started with with appetizers and beverages and member fellowship discussions. Guests David Flood and speaker for the evening Mayor of Lincoln Paul Joiner were introduced.
Clark provided two handout to the members relating to duties for members including Committee representation, recurring service projects, and Rotary meeting tradition priorities.Members were provided a questionnaire by President-Elect Harvey Ulijohn relating to the Club's membership volunteer desires. This input is requested from all to assist in future Club and meeting planning.
Two new members were inducted to the Lincoln Rotary Cub; Julie Lutkemuller was sponsored by Rose Ruiz and Ed Prokopik was sponsored by Dan Johnson. The new members were given a very warm welcome by the membership with a standing ovation.
Art and Clark presented a Paul Harris Fellow + 3 award to "Wild Bill" Cook. There was further discussions on the levels of PH participation.
Dan Johnson reminded us that the Lincoln Community Blood and Platelet Drive Blood is February 20 at the Veteran's Hall 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Invite your friends and neighbors. Clark reported that Taste of Italy will be held March 21st; keep the date open and step up and help make this a success as it is the clubs largest fundraiser.
The Lincoln High School Baseball fundraising dinner will be held on Wednesday March 18 (6 pm) at McBean Pavillion. Cost is $15 per person - and great news the Club will pay $8 and you pay the additional $7. This will be in lieu of the March 19 normal meeting and will be an opportunity for all club members to get together.
Our guest speaker, Mayor Paul Joiner provided an overview of planning and operations of our city. A new city manager and an economic development manager have been hired. A project of sidewalks, bump-outs, cobblestone and brick will be completed from 7th Street to Hwy. 193 downtown. The General Plan and build out of approximately 2,000 homes on 500 acres near Ferrari Ranch Road, and planned housing expansion near Turkey Creek were discussed. The vision includes practice fields for soccer and imporovements at the Lincoln Airport.
