Upcoming Guest Speaker

Vicki Reliford, President of the Woman's Club of Lincoln is the Speaker for 11/14/24. She will share the future vision for the Woman's Club.

 Meeting Welcome

President Greg opened the meeting with 30 members and 6 guests present. The flag salute was led by Kimberly McCue and the Four Way Test was led by Richard Pearl. Guests welcomed were speaker: Randy Tooker and Rod Borges (Clark Osterhout), Donna and Louie Martin (Pres. Greg), Stanley Jacques (Wild Bill), Sandy Cook (Wild Bill), Cathy Shanly (Joann).

Special Memorial Tribute

President Greg honored our four special men (John Quigley, John Fett, Roy Abbanat, and Bill Lauritsen) who all passed in October!  Candles were lit, we shared a time of silence with our thoughts of the men we’ve lost, viewed the screen showing their names, the birth and death dates … the dash in between…and then hearing Greg’s reading of the incredible poem, “The Dash”…..it was deeply moving to each member.

Events and Committee Announcements

Kris reminded us of the Nov. 13th LPAL (Lincoln Police Activity League) Bingo Bar. She needs members to sign up (call her) for sell tickets and tend bar. Kids in need can “shop with a cop” at Target for themselves and their families. Sponsorships will be appreciated. The Fireman’s Turkey Drive on Nov. 21st will need volunteers during two shifts. Bring a frozen turkey to Firehouse 34 at 126 Joiner Parkway on Thursday, November 21st, from 2-8 PM. If you’d like to volunteer and help collect turkeys, please see Joann. Lindsey will take sign ups on ‘Sign Up Genius’. Kris shared that the RCL Board will sponsor two exchange students (one is Krista, Kimberly’s daughter). Keela reminded us about our Xmas Float Build Day on Nov. 10th from 10 to 2:00 at her house (1718 Hungry Hollow, Lincoln). Pres. Greg shared that the Dart Strategic Plan Committee’s finalized report will be given to the Foundation Club Board and then to membership in January 2025. Jan reminded us that speakers are an important and informative part of our meetings. If any member knows of a potential speaker, contact her and she will contact speaker coordinators for available open dates. Bryan presented new Rotarian members Louie and Donna Martin with their pins. Bryan invited us to Monday’s Nov. 11th Veteran’s Day Memorial in McBean Park at the Memorial wall at 11:11 a.m.
