 Monthly Magic Message
Magician President Greg:

We are Rotary!

Magic: Welcome to another magical year of Rotary. Quite appropriately, Rotary International has entitled this year as “The Magic of Rotary”. Remember, this is your club, and it takes all of us together to create that magic. To quote the ever immortal Lovin’ Spoonful, “Do you Believe in Magic.?” I know I do!New Meeting Start Time: We are going to try something a little different to try to accommodate our fellow Rotarians who may be coming from work. Lunch and social time will still begin at 12:00 PM. However, the actual meeting will not start until 12:25 and will run to 1:30. If you are coming for lunch, be there at 12:00. If not, the bell will ring promptly at 12:25.Committee Assignments: It is expected that everyone in the club will serve on a committee. At our next meeting you will be receiving a committee selection sheet with descriptions of our different committees. Please look it over and make your committee choices. Together We are Rotary!

Upcoming Guest Speaker

The speaker for August 1st is Joshua Armstrong. Joshua Armstrong is an experienced manager with over two decades in the entertainment industry. He is currently serving as the Outreach & Activations Manager for the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce.

Minutes of the Meeting

President Greg opened the meeting with 25 members and 2 guests present. The flag salute was led by Richard Pearl and the Four Way Test by  Wild Bill Cook. Guests present were James Wendell (Joann Hilton) and Ken Tornay (Josh &Lindsey Graves).

Paul Harris Recognition
Greg provided an excellent history of what Paul Harris stands for, and how it is achieved, before presenting a Paul Harris + 8 to Clark Osterhout.
Members then recognized Clark's accomplishment with a standing ovation.
Events and Committee Announcements
Kris sent around clipboard for volunteer help at the National Night Out (8/6th) and as Bartenders at the LHS Football Bar (8/9th). Kris also reported the need for a new scoreboard at McBean Park. See her for tickets ($20) to a fundraiser circus. Jan sent around a clipboard for volunteer speaker coordinators still needed for September, January, and February.  Greg encouraged members to support the Lions Club Bingo August 14, winsga nd wheels pictureRichard discussed Wings and Wheels saying that there will be 80+ airplanes, 200+cars, Hot Air Balloons, and 10 - 20,000 attendees. Volunteers are needed and admission is free for those who sign up. Wild Bill talked about the Blood Drive, saying that donations have gone down since Covid. Previously, close to 50 donations were common, but more recently, the number of donations have averaged about 20. He mentioned incentives to donate include delicious cookies and brownies and even better lemon bars provided by the local Women's Cattlemen Assoc. Advance signup is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome!! Bryan covered the Tour de Lincoln saying that so far there are 25 riders signed up but that is not a concern because the majority for the riders sign up the last two weeks before the event. He said E Bikes are welcome. Sign up Genius will be active soon. Claire said the Women's Club is kicking off its campaign on 8/10 to fund the expansion of their facility. Community Service and World Community Service committee chair positions are still open and in need of volunteers.

Club Assembly 7-25-24
President Greg Kevin on June 27 Club Assembly asked Committee Chairpersons to give an overview of their committees. This Club Assembly continued with the review of committees in preparation for next week's opportunity for members to decide the committee or committees they want to join. Darrell Scott gave a short report on Properties. There is 1 lot in contract, 2 lots yet to sell and 1 family residence to rent. He expects that by November the Properties committee may be able to be closed. The Strategic committee is working on the long-term purpose, as outlined, in the Dart Bequest. Claire Luke described the Administration duties as including planning the socials on the 5th week months. She needs helpers for the president Kick-out event, as well as Holiday events as they occur. Administration  member Frank Neves, is responsible for the food at meetings, as well as the set up and take down. Bryan Ludwig chairs the Membership committee. Bryan stressed that membership is a responsibility of every member. Members should consider that friends, family, co-workers, or just new people you meet should be thought of as potential, prospective Rotarians. The club currently has about 62 members. Bryan encouraged members to actively try to increase this number. There is a committee meeting for Membership on August 8th following the meeting. Greg the asked members to think about the following questions: What do YOU want from this club?, how can we make the club better? Feel free to call Greg with your thoughts.
The Four-Way Test
           The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
   1. Is it the truth?
   2. Is it fair to all concerned?
   3. Will it build goodwill and
         better friendships?
   4. Will it be beneficial
        to all concerned?

   5. HAVE FUN !!
