Anglin was awarded his Blue Badge! He was joined by three other new members who had the “New Member” removed from new badges: Larry W, Jan Hutchinson and Colleen Knight. This ceremony celebrates their success in completing all of the Red-to-Blue badge activities to learn about Rotary and our club.

He plays the tuba, sousaphone, and the didgeridoo!
He was signed off to fly a piper cub at 15, before he could get a drivers license
He's a Korean War Vet
After college he worked for Red Cross and United Way doing fundraising
He joined Rotary in 1972 and was president of the Carmel Valley Club in 97-98
He was with our club for less than a year in 2005 but his friends enticed him to join South Placer Rotary.
He has spent a lot of time working on Rotary projects in Haiti (water wells, medical clinics, etc.)
He was elected to be Lincoln Treasurer in 2016 and is looking forward to the end of his term!
Larry Whitaker was our speaker, talking about the accomplishments and plans of the World Community Service Committee. In this year and the past year, the budget is/has been about $12,000. We have supported other club projects as well as some hands-on projects in Mexico. In addition, we provide funding for Polio Plus and ShelterBox. To find out more, go to http://www.larrywhitaker.org/
Larry also announced that the project to support a visit from representatives of Belarus has been cancelled.

October 24th is World Polio Day! Four functions will all be rolled into one big fun evening on on the 24th with events held at the Dueling Dogs brewery.

--- Food + Polio Plus + Social 5:30 p.m. until we're told to quit
--- NO lunch meeting on Thursday, 24th
--- NO Rotary meeting on Thursday 31st
Caron stated that our goal is to collect money for Polio Plus with an average of $24 per member – that would be ~ $1200 to fight this disease, then adding the money from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation this would yield ~$3600.
Mike Luken, Executive Director for the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, and Dan Karleskint of the Lincoln City council will talk about the traffic issues that affect our community, and what plans there are for relief in the future!
