Announcements and Reports: Truman reported that the “Clay Day” on Saturday was cancelled due to stormy weather. Youth Services Kris: L.H.S. Work Night was supported with $232,000 in donations. Interact members were given pins for volunteering 20 hours at the last meeting of the year. Richard Pearl: the meeting next week will be held at Waste Management at 11:00 for a tour of the facility to be followed by lunch (each person brings) at the Board Room. He will be sending email details. Long pants and sleeved shirts as well as a face mask are suggested for the tour. Joann: The D5180 Grant is nearly complete to provide additional funding for Cornerstone and RYLA. Richard Pearl: the club needs a social volunteer to send club recognition for illnesses, or other types of personal situations that might arise.
Guest Speaker: Beatrice Galletto Club RYE from Italy 2014-2015.
Beatrice began with sharing that she very much loved her RYE time in Lincoln. Since then she has completed college and achieved her Masters Degree as well majoring in Communication- Political and Public. This involved speech writing, social media, and marketing. However her goal is to be a wedding planner.
Q & A included that she began studying English in elementary school and added French and German along the way. Her boyfriend (guest Manuel Pesenti) speaks 4 languages and serves in the Swiss Army.
Beatrice also shared that when she returned from RYE she was a very different person, more independent which caused some issues with her parents, especially when she wanted to do more traveling on her own. She still keeps in touch with some of her RYE classmates and they have had reunions in Barcelona pre- covid and soon to have one in Prague. She particularly enjoyed visiting with her former Host family (guest Denise Sheridan).
