42 Years a Nurse... A Gift of a Lifetime
Sep 07, 2023 12:00 PM
"Hoping that my talk speaks to the heart of being a nurse, the rewarding moments, interesting and humorous times and a message of how nursing enriched my life. I would often tell nurses who had strayed from the missions of nursing that "there is no greater gift than having people invite you into their lives at their most vulnerable moments." |

Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary
Oct 12, 2023 12:00 PM
Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary was founded in the year 2000 based on a promise made to our founders’ beloved Golden, Chelsea. Since then, we saved more than 10,700 dog lives through comprehensive rescue and adoption programs. Thanks to the vision and generosity of our founders, Jody and Mike Jones, we have carved out a peaceful haven from eight acres of the countryside where dogs can run, play, train, and be loved on their journeys to forever homes. Our facility provides refuge for dogs in immediate need. A robust foster program supplements our efforts so more can be saved. For those whose extreme age or health issues have rendered them unlikely to be adopted, they are welcome to live out their lives with us in sanctuary. None of this would be possible without you – the hundreds of volunteers, supporters, adopters, fosters, and partners who truly are the heart of Homeward Bound.

Chiropractor and Wellness Doctor
Nov 16, 2023 12:00 PM
My pre-chiropractic education began at UW-LaCrosse where I studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses, as well as meeting my future wife, Michelle. After completing my study there, I was accepted at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota. During my four years at NWCC, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the NWCC Public Clinic. After graduating in 1990, Michelle and I moved to the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights to complete my internship with Dr. Nelson in Granite Bay. I’ve worked with other chiropractors in their offices, but I prefer being “the Captain of my own ship.” I love to share great information with people. I still remember thinking as I was learning in chiropractic college that if everybody knew what I was learning than everyone would want to see a chiropractor for improving their health. That’s why I make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate through handouts, videos and our web site. I believe patients appreciate that. I want people to know that good health IS within your reach. |

Funding our Schools
Dec 14, 2023 12:00 PM
Kerry Callahan began her career in education in 1999 as a middle and high school math teacher in Honeoye – a rural community in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. She then moved to northern California and continued teaching math and AVID in Galt, CA. During that time, she earned her master’s in educational leadership and policy studies and her administrative services credential. In 2004, Kerry was hired by Woodland Joint Unified School District to serve as their math coordinator. She also served in Woodland as an elementary principal and high school assistant principal and principal. Western Placer Unified School District hired Kerry as their assistant superintendent of educational services in 2014 and then promoted her to deputy superintendent in 2019. Kerry believes that her greatest strength as a leader is hiring the right people and then guiding and supporting them in being their best selves. |
