Fun and Fundraising

• Kerry was instrumental in planning and conducting Lincoln Rotary’s 100th year Anniversary. Not only treating members and guests to a Gala party at Catta Verdera with a 1920’s theme and decorations but it was culminated with a record achievement—A gift of TWO Million dollars from the Lincoln Rotary Foundation to establish a Boys & Girls Club in Lincoln. The CEO of Placer County Boys & Girls Club was there to receive the huge mockup of the check and to celebrate this groundbreaking and life changing accomplishment. All this was done because of our former Rotarian, Bob Dart who generously donated 13 properties to Lincoln Rotary. Thank you to Bob Dart!
• We set up a process for the agreement with Boys & Girls Club for releasing funds utilizing a partnership with Placer Community Foundation. The arrangement involved signing an MOU.
• While Kerry’s goal for new members was not quite met, we still have 14 new members to Lincoln Rotary.

Community Service

• Kerry truly broke all Community Service records by announcing and executing her incredible Event for Lincoln: ONE HUNDRED PROJECTS in one day!! Only the Superintendent of Schools can pull something this big off. Literally, hundreds of school children and every WPUSD school participated along with Rotarians and many other volunteers. It was incredible in scope and results. Bark was shoveled, plants planted, downtown was swept and cleaned and all on one day. An enormous project and it was beautifully captured in a video.
• We had many Volunteers for Food Distribution at the Salt Mine. The Club Foundation also made substantial donations to many other local non-profit needs.
• Sponsored, set up, tear down and publicize Quarterly Blood Drives resulting in significant blood donations for our community.
• Planned and staffed annual Camp Clay which served the huge number of kids having fun and getting dirty.
• Re-imagined the Lincoln Wine Fest making it larger with more vendors, wineries and craft breweries than ever before. Ten bands played at different locations. A huge success and it attracted more attendees who enjoyed out Downtown.
• Volunteered for annual Turkey Drive with our Fire fighters.
• Purchased and donated over 50 books for Lincoln Library Children’s section as speaker gifts.
• Supplied and maintained Little Libraries.
• Club goal for donations to Rotary International Foundation was $10,000, ACTUAL was over $18,600.
• Continuing our 13 year tradition of installing Park signs at each of the City parks to commemorate the person for which they are named, this year it was two more.

Youth Services

• Project Cornerstone, a value-based Literacy program, is funded by Lincoln Rotary for the entire School District. The plan is to implement the program in all the WPUSD Elementary schools using both Rotary and Community volunteers and the support of WPUSD staff. This year, we applied for and will receive Rotary District Grant funds to offset about half of our donation. Several Rotarians volunteer for this classroom participation.
• For the first time, we sent two Rotary Exchange students abroad and hosted TWO foreign exchange students, one from Belgium and one from Brazil. Many members were involved with hosting them and interacting to counsel them and ensure they enjoyed their stay.
• Sponsored LHS and TBHS Football and LHS Baseball, Girls’ Softball and Little League programs with banners and sponsorships.
• Sponsored and oversaw Interact Club at Twelve Bridges High School with over 25 members. Helped them send gifts to soldiers overseas.
• Provided $7500 in Scholarships to High School graduates.
• Sent 1 High School Student to Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening Camp.
• Donated to Phoenix HS for graduation, prom and scholarships.

International Service

• Club donations to scholarship Elementary, Middle and High School students of Lake Chapala, Mexico plus substantial donations by individual members to both student scholarships. We are delighted to be informed that going forward no funding will be needed for Elementary, Middle and High Schools as the government has undertaken to fund those in public schools. We are continuing to help support the exceptional students in University and Vocational studies through the Tepehua program.
• Tepehua Community Center, our partners for over 12 years, $5000 for a very successful Diabetes program. Several of the diabetic members have been able to terminate insulin usage due to improvements in diet. Donation of $2000 to the Tepehua Scholarship program in honor of former Lincoln Rotarian and our partner in Chapala, Rod Hensley and Moonie the former head of Tepehua..
• Our Committee for International Service made donations to many other projects and in total provided $18,500 to projects in Guatemala, Haiti, for PolioPLus, Shelterbox and many more.
