Claire reminded us that RSVP and payment ($33) are due today (last day) for our Social at Turkey Creek on 1-31-25. Pres. Greg reminded us that 1-24-25 is the last day of voting for service organization, volunteer, and nonprofit organization of the year. Kris announced that two candidates for Youth Exchange have been selected from LHS and TBHS. One is Krista (our own Kim McCue’s daughter)! Jan asked members to give her names/contact info re: potential speakers for a list in case a scheduled speaker must cancel. Pres. Greg auctioned Bow Wow dog cookie bags (instead of collecting Happy Bucks). Kris appreciates volunteers for the H.Schools’ sober grad nights. Joann has sold 105 tickets so far for our April 26th Wine Fest!
Paul Radcliffe informed us about the World Community Service (WCS) committee, its budget of $15,000 and the board approved $10,000 increase. He listed the Headliners of our projects:
Polio Plus,Los Angeles Fire Donations,Chapala Sunrise Club to Club, Education/SAFE Scholarships,Water,Diabetes, Tepehua Community Center, Scholarships,Shelterbox (Darrell clarified that Shelterbox is operating in L.A. fires with District 5280, and District 5300 Henderson, NV, eastern L.A.),Guatemala City Dump,Haiti Nutrition,Phillipines-San Fernando Club- (Ria Worden explained the need of the local people for farming tools, fertilizer, & solar lights),Uganda Microfinance,Bangladesh-Teaching Mothers to be Teachers.
