the "Lincoln Community Blood Drives"

an example of a recent one follows

Blood donation is important because of maintaining an adequate blood supply in our community and assuring that there is adequate blood reserves for blood transfusions for patients. It gives donors a medical check at no cost. But more important, you get free cookies, juice and other goodies provided by the Placer Nevada Cattle Women.  And, you get the satisfaction of helping others.

Health benefits of donating blood include good health and reduced risk of cancer and hemochromatosis. It helps in reducing the risk of damage to liver and pancreas. Donating blood may help in improving cardiovascular health and reducing obesity. our body will replace the blood volume (plasma) within 48 hours. It will take four to eight weeks for your body to completely replace the red blood cells you donated. The average adult has eight to 12 pints of blood. You will not notice any physical changes related to the pint you donated.
