Lincoln Rotary Accomplishments
Membership
- Achieved the highest number of Lincoln Rotary members in 100 years of Lincoln Rotary totaling 71 members. With FOURTEEN new members since Greg became President.
Fun and Fundraising
- Initiated the very first Taste of Mexico which was innovative and fun as it took place over many areas instead of sitting all night at one table. Netted some good funds and spread the Rotary name over the neighborhood.
- Another successful Lincoln Wine Fest to support Downtown Lincoln and Placer County wineries and breweries. Sold out with over 750 attendees. Sponsored and managed Tour de Lincoln with over 500 attendees.
- Planned and staffed annual Camp Clay which served the largest number of participants ever.
- President Greg inspired and cajoled members to assist other non-profits in their activities leading to an unparalleled level of unity with them and greatly benefitting our community. Rotary bartenders staffed Community organizations’ bars, members sold See’s Candy and sponsored tables at fundraisers to assist them in their fundraising along with other active participation. He was instrumental in founding the group of Lincoln non-profits called Lincoln Serves.
Community Service
- Pres Greg chaired the Strategic Planning Committee for the Dart Properties. Over the past year, that Committee executed a Needs Assessment and, as a result, gained approval of our strategic direction at all levels of the club governance. The need identified was to provide some kind of Youth Center.
- Meantime, all the properties have been sold, and the funds are in investments awaiting final approval with the Boys & Girls Club. The Properties legal entity has fulfilled its goal and will be folded into the Club Foundation. This finalizes a large body of work over the past 4 years and is a tribute to the leadership of the Properties Committee and President Greg. He also led the Subcommittee that researched and is in negotiation with Placer County Boys & Girls Club to assess and finally complete an agreement to establish a B&GC in Lincoln, thanks to Lincoln Rotary and former Rotarian, Robert Dart.
- Volunteering for Food Distribution and Donation of $8,000 to Salt Mine. The Club Foundation also made substantial donations to Lighthouse, Woman’s Club, LPAL, The Hub and many other local needs.
- Sponsored, set up, tear down and publicize Quarterly Blood Drives resulting in significant blood donations for our community.
- Volunteered for annual Turkey Drive with our Fire fighters.
- Purchased and donated over 50 books for Lincoln Library Children’s section as speaker gifts.
- Donation of $2000 for children’s event at Fourth of July fireworks event.
- Supplied and maintained Little Libraries.
- Club goal for donations to Rotary International Foundation was $8,000, ACTUAL was $11,600.
- Continued our 13 year tradition of installing Park signs at each of the City parks to commemorate the person for which they are named, this year it was two more.
Youth Projects and Support
- Project Cornerstone, a value-based Literacy program, is funded by Lincoln Rotary for the entire School District. The plan is to implement the program in all the WPUSD Elementary schools using both Rotary and Community volunteers and the support of WPUSD staff.
