Here's Darrell Scott
President Darrell Scott
This started out as another awesome year for our club. But, in March 2020, the occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic affected our fundraising and giving activities. Due to Covid-19, all gatherings had to cease, causing all meetings to be changed to an online virtual format using Zoom. The Tour de Lincoln fundraiser and the Rotary Club Lincoln Wine Fest (both which produced significant fundraising in the past) had to be canceled (or deferred). Lincoln schools and businesses were shut down, significantly changing the needs of those in our community. We formed a special committee on Covid-19 support that re-allocated previously approved funding to support our students and needy community residents in coping with Covid-19.
On a positive note, we were notified that Rotary would be receiving a sizeable amount of cash and properties from the Robert Dart Trust. Robert had been a member of Rotary from about 1955 to 2002 and passed in December 2019. He was known by a few of the club long-term members but his bequest to the club was previously unknown.
