 Alan's poems and stories are always special to hear. Alan provided food for thought today about how childhood incidents carry over into adulthood.
He later talked about the 19th Annual Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest.
 
 
Alan provided the following Contest information that you may find interesting:
The 19th Annual Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest, with the theme—“The Five Ws Of Life: Who?  What?  Where?  When?  and Why? . . . Discover The Answers Through Poetry,” was quite successful. ” 

The July 20th entry deadline attracted 104 poets, including 41 young poets. Poets submitted 216 poems, in five categories: “Who” Is The Most Important Person In Your Life? “What” Is Your Most Cherished Memory? “Where” Do You Want To Be Tomorrow?   “When” Did You Do Something That Made A Difference In Someone’s Life?   and “Why” Should You Never Stop Dreaming? Contest judges selected 37 winning poems, submitted by 30 poets, including 13 “Young Poets,” ages 11 through 18. 

Winning poets come from 5 cities in 5 other states and from14 CA cities: Lincoln (5), Campbell (2), Fremont (1), Loomis (1), Modesto (1), Redwood City (1), Richmond (1), Rocklin (3), Roseville (3), San Francisco (1), San Jose (2), Saratoga (2), Wheatland (1), and Woodland (1). The Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest and special event are presented by the Poets Club of Lincoln. Alan has been the coordinator of this event for 15 years.

Alan said one particularly touching poem was written by a RCL RYLA student who remembered Alan from the Rotary meeting where she spoke about her RYLA experiences.
